Important facts

The concept of using dual-fuel on diesel engines is not new. Rudolf Diesel, who invented the engine bearing his name, experimented with enriched combustion air mixtures in the early1900’s. Before long, natural gas became popular as an enriching fuel for two main reasons.

Multi point injected natural gas

Converted dual fuel engines mix the natural gas with combustion air just before it enters the cylinder. This is done under moderate pressure, slightly higher than the boost pressure from turbocharger.

Single point injected natural gas

The gas/air mixer is installed before turbocharger, continuously delivering gas/air mixture for combustion. Quantity of gas is regulated by electronically controlled throttle valve.
